50 Years of LEGO…The Book
Growing up I don’t believe there was a child in any country (where available, so don’t get all snobby and tell me about your LEGO-less childhood in Tuvalu) that didn’t play with LEGO’s. While from time to time all kids go through a fling with some other false idols, for me it was G.I. Joe and He Man, the simple brilliance of those little blocks is where you always return. LEGO’s have captured the imagination and provided an outlet for children every where to create what their heart desired. After all, you don’t stick around for 50 years if your product is a mere fad. In recognition of the LEGO brick turning 50 this year, LEGO is publishing a “Collectors Guide” documenting all of their nearly 8,000 sets produced between 1958 and 2008.
