NYC Waterfalls Open

nycwaterfalls.jpg

Brainchild of Danish artist Elafur Eliasson, The New York City Waterfalls, will finally be opening tomorrow. Running from June 26th through October 13th, these odd drain pipes will be pumping water out of, in to like an open faucet in a weird cycle along the East River. If you care to make your way over to see what I almost called the dumbest art installment in recent years, until I was reminded of those stupid orange curtains in Central Park a few years ago, here is all the info you will need:

When:

June 26 - October 13, daily from 7am - 10pm (with lighting at night)

Where:

1. Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn anchorage
2. Governors Island by Soissons Dock ferry landing
3. East River near Pier 35 (north of Rutgers Street), Lower East Side
4. East River near Piers 4 and 5, Brooklyn Heights

How:

Manhattan Bridge pedestrian walkway
Pier 17, South Street Seaport
Battery Park City Esplanade
Fulton Ferry Landing, Dumbo, Brooklyn
Brooklyn Heights Promenade between Joralemon and Remsen Streets

Amazingly this project only cost $15 million and several months to construct. My math may be off, but I am pretty sure I could have completed this in a weekend and for under $10 million easy! Next time the city should have called us at
