This past weekend was the 3rd annual Bushwick Open Studios, an event where essentially 250+ galleries, artists spaces, businesses and even homes opened up their doors to the general public to come in and see their works. While I was probably only able to visit less than 20% of the participating spaces myself, I was fortunate enough to wander into the space of Alexandra Pacula. Her paintings can be described simply as mind blowing glimpses of time. Her works freeze the hectic chaos that is city life and translate them onto canvas as surreal pieces of art. It was a pleasure to view these works up close, as viewing them on line cannot do them justice, and to have a brief moment to talk to Ms. Pacula on her style and techniques.
