A collection of new works by Shepard Fairey will be on display from May 1 through May 29 at the 18 Wooster Deitch Gallery location. In addition to the exhibit, dubbed May Day, Fairey and the Obey Posse are looking for wall space to bless with mural installations to coincide with the show. Beyond the new works by the famed street & studio artist, the show also will mark the last exhibit to be held at Deitch. Owner, Jeffrey Deitch has been appointed to a position as director of the LA Museum of Contemporary Art, thus he will be leaving us here on the East Coast to take residence in the City of Angels. While this a a huge opportunity for Mr. Deitch and I wish him all the success in the world, I will sincerely miss having such an amazing venue here in NYC to have the opportunity to witness the immense amount of talent that has been on exhibit via Deitch over the last decade.

Celebrating it’s five year anniversary as a leading venue for today’s best emerging street artists, Jonathan LeVine Gallery (map) is hosting a group exhibition to commemorate the occasion. The exhibit, running through March 27, features 36 artists, including WK Interact, Shepard Fairey, Ron English and Dan Witz. The opportunity to see all of this talent under one roof at the same time won’t come along often, so be sure to add this show to your calendar!

David Choe has also gotten involved in fund raising attempts for the Haiti relief effort…
Personally paying for the cost of the prints, David Choe has requested that all proceeds go to Yele Haiti, a foundation created by Wyclef Jean. This print measures 18″x24″ inches and is a Giclee print on archival paper. Limited to 50 editions, the print is hand-signed by David Choe.
Fortunately for Haiti, but unfortunately for art collectors all of the prints have already sold out during the pre-sale, raising $15,000 to help out Haitians during their time of need.

Released for sale today Eye Alert is the latest work from Shepard Fairey and the Obey machine. And no, that isn’t a twinkle in the young lassies eye, but rather the evil in her soul peering out, caused by her blood lust for the material. The $45. prints will be available online and are limited to 350 signed and numbered pieces.
