Subway Cut And Paste

It is nothing new for subway advertisements to be improved upon modified by some dastardly hooligans. You’ve seen thought bubbles drawn onto a billboard to let you know what a model is really thinking, or genitalia appropriately placed on another. Now there is the latest culprit (or culprits) running around NYC, of what some are calling culture jamming, that has all the blogs across the internet yearning for him/her/them to be the next Banksy. I wouldn’t particularly care about everyone looking for the next street artist to jock and wouldn’t even post about it, but truth is that the work is just pretty damn funny. Some works are more political than others, but I don’t know if this is the act of one person, or a bunch of random acts of billboard mashing. I am going to guess that there are several people all sweating this style right now, trying to be an “activist” to impress some girly draped in American Apparel and sunglasses my Grandmother wore.

Walter Burley Griffin

griffincanberra.jpg

No, he is not a character on Family Guy, instead Walter Burley Griffin (1876 - 1937) is one of the greatest architectural minds of the 20th century. Griffin was an architect with a background in landscape design. He is closely associated with prairie school design, like that of Frank Lloyd Wright. Griffin even worked under Wright for many years until they parted ways. While working under Wright, Griffin met his wife Marion Mahoney. The two forged an impressive resume in their 28 years of partnership, designing over 350 buildings together. The apex of their career was the designing of the capital city of Australia, Canberra (pictured above).

I have planned a city that is not like any other in the world. I have planned it not in a way that I expected any government authorities in the world would accept. I have planned an ideal city - a city that meets my ideal of the city of the future.

Vantastic

l1010484-1.jpg

I am not sure why this bitchin’ van has been permanently parked around the block from the office, at the corner of Prince and Mercer Streets. Maybe the owner crashed through a gap in the space time continuum, or has just been stoned since 1977 and forgot where he parked his car, or maybe the FBI is onto us and cleverly disguising their surveillance equipment. Either way, this van is a welcome addition to the normal crap-mobiles parked in SoHo. Why is it everyone either drives cars out of rap videos or a standby BMW? Twenty bucks says this dude has lava lamps and a water bed in this ride. Can you say that about your 7 series?? I think not. Learn something from this guy!

Check out Supertouch, who has a great image gallery of this van up.

1957 Chrysler Diablo

chryslerdiablo-1.jpg

Is the name Diablo that makes me love this car (as I did the Lamborghini of the same name), or is it the fact that this concept car was designed by Chrysler, not in 1990. but 1957? Oh and how about this for an insider tip, while Chrysler never produced this concept Diablo, the Countach successor, the Lamborghini Diablo was developed and introduced while Chrysler owned the Itlalian super car manufacturer.

Now you have a chance to own this piece of automotive history, as the Diablo concept car goes up for auction at this years Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the RM Auctions‘ Sports and Classics of Monterey. It is estimated that the Diablo cost Chrysler $250,000. (in 1957 dollars) to produce and I would expect it to bring even more at auction.

For those of you, like me, who have no chance in Hell (pardon the pun) of owning this Devil, you can enjoy more pics by click the link below….
