While my knowledge of American history may be a little fuzzy, I am almost positive that while America was not “built by men in suits”, as many of the current Levi’s ads point out, it was not built by topless women, like those shown in the same ads, either. Still, Levi’s is really pushing their new old image of being a working mans persons clothing company. To their credit, Levi’s has also partnered up with artist Shepard Fairey and his OBEY brand to develop a collaborative, limited edition, line of clothes. The line includes tee shirts, jeans and denim jackets. The brilliance behind this collaboration is not just that OBEY is tied into the young adult subculture, but the brand was started from nothing by a man with a vision who worked hard, the exact message Levi’s is pushing with the “Go Forth” marketing campaign. The cumulation of this joining of forces comes tonight at the Levi’s store in Times Square, where their will be a special release party for the OBEY collaboration and a live art installation by Shepard Fairey that starts at 7:00.

I personally never understood the need for women to own $3,000. hand bags. The functionality of a $30. is identical, yet a months rent is all to often spent for some reason. However, if any of the ladies out there want to hand over a mere $579. for the James Piatt “Persuader” I would completely understand. Not only does it meet the function needs of a basic purse, but it begs the question to would be muggers – “do you really want to steal my purse?”

I shaved my head this weekend. Considering that I had long, luscious, flowing locks of hair, people have been asking me why I did it. Rather than tell them my tale, I simply show them this picture. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, right? Spotted on Bogart St., near Seigel St. in Bushwick. The text reads “All you need to do is get a haircut. Go and get a haircut and you’ll be happy. All you have to do is get a haircut and every time you look in the mirror, you’ll be 100%.” And I am. Thank you oh wise prophet of the walls.
