Available next month, Jonathan Olivares takes an extraordinary look at the history of the modern office chair. From Grcic to Eames, ‘A Taxonomy of Office Chairs’ provides readers with “a visual overview of the entire evolution of the modern office chair.” The book provides a rich and unbiased catalog of office chairs from 1849 to today. Approaching it’s subject with a scientific methodology, the book offers more than just images, rather detailed documentation of each chairs unique elements and design features. As Olivares explains it, “I wanted to find something that on one hand has a rich technical history, and on he other hand is related to the human body in an intimate way. The office chair is that perfect synthesis.”
Another OLEK crochet bike was spotted by street art documenter Jake Dobkin in NYC. Originally hailing from Poland, and now living in NYC as part of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council‘s Artist-in-Residence program, OLEK has crocheted everything from bikes to cars and even recently crocheted the famed ‘Charging Bull’ in the Financial District. And you thought crotchet was only for making baby blankets and doilies!

KAWS has once again teamed up with A Bathing Ape to create a three pack of vinyl toys for the brand. The Rocketman concept from Mini is one of those show stealing designs that can rival that of any Lamborghini or Bentley. The wild design features pop-out style doors, a pop-out storage rack, 3+1 seating design, the entire thing is lit up by LED’s and a full glass roof that has the outline of the classic Union Jack roof Mini’s are known for. On top of it all, Mini managed to make their tiny car even tinier. This is one cool concept car, that shows the Mini can still push the envelope of innovative design.
